Red Oak Sample White Oak Sample
PROPERTIES:
Hard, stiff with high shock resistance. Significant shrinkage while drying. Season carefully to avoid checking and warping. Heartwood ranks moderate in decay resistance but can be treated. Rated above average on usage with hand or machine tools, although shaping can be difficult because of the coarse grain.

USAGE:
Oak's primary uses in the United States include flooring, furniture, millwork, boxes and crates, caskets and coffins, agricultural implements, boats, and woodenware. The lumber is also used for building and construction. Red oak is used extensively for doors and panels, and home furnishings, especially home entertainment units/ television cabinets.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Our red oak is color sorted towards the light pinkish styles. We take extra care to select our plywood to match our plain sliced lumber within a reasonable color spectrum. Plain sliced does not mean straight grain, but it is a tighter grain pattern than rotary cut plywood. Further color or grain selection would be considered separately and each one cost according to the degree of difficulty.

PLEASE NOTE:
This sample is representative of the color and grain of our cabinetry finishes, but it is best to remember that because no two trees grow alike, that variations in grain and color can be expected in your cabinets. Color and grain differences in wood are caused by variations in the mineral content of the soil, changes in the climate, or amount of moisture and injuries to the tree as it grows. Every wood specie will also display certain specific characteristics in with age or mineral streaks. While these marks and variations provide the character and beauty of each species, they could occur sporadically throughout your cabinetry. These samples are intended to give a general idea of the appearance, please stop by our showroom to examine samples of these woods with various finishes before making the final selection for your upcoming project.
